Preserving a musical legacy

Julián Cerdán Foundation

The Julián Cerdán Foundation was established in 2010 in Sanlúcar de Barrameda (Andalusian Register of Foundations, registration no. CA-1306, BOJA no. 250 of 23/12/2011) with a clear and firm objective: to preserve, protect and carry forward the musical and cultural legacy linked to the historic Julián Cerdán Concert Band, one of the most representative cultural institutions of the town and an unquestionable landmark in the Andalusian concert band scene.

The creation of the Foundation responds to the need to provide this legacy with a stable, rigorous and forward-looking structure, capable of ensuring its continuity beyond short-term circumstances, and of reinforcing its role as a cultural, educational and social agent in Sanlúcar and its surroundings.

Mission and founding aims

The Julián Cerdán Foundation has as its principal mission the conservation and dissemination of the musical heritage, both tangible and intangible, generated around the band over more than a century of history. Its aims include:

Protection of the historical archive

Scores, instruments, documents and testimonies linked to the Julián Cerdán Band.

Support for musical training

Especially through the music school, as the foundation for generational renewal and artistic excellence.

Promotion of music as a cultural asset

Fostering concerts, educational activities, research and outreach projects.

Future projection of the institution

Ensuring that the band and its school continue to be a cultural landmark for Sanlúcar.

A commitment to culture and education

The Foundation acts as an essential vehicle for channelling cultural and educational initiatives that would otherwise be difficult to sustain in the long term. Thanks to its work, projects are strengthened that contribute directly to the cultural development of the town, to access to musical education and to the preservation of a tradition that forms part of the identity of Sanlúcar.

Supporting the Julián Cerdán Foundation means investing in culture, in education and in the transmission of values such as effort, discipline, fellowship and a love of music.

Looking to the future

The Julián Cerdán Foundation works with an eye to the future, convinced that cultural heritage only endures if it is cared for, studied and shared. Its vocation is to continue being a fundamental pillar so that music may continue to occupy the place it deserves in the cultural life of Sanlúcar de Barrameda.

Thanks to the support of committed individuals, institutions and partner organisations, the Foundation aspires to continue strengthening a legacy that belongs to the entire town and to generations to come.
