Cádiz
Being a band from the province of Cádiz, we have always sought to maintain our link with the Holy Week of our provincial capital, where since 2018 we have accompanied the Crowned Virgin of Sorrows, the sorrowful image of the Archbrotherhood of La Palma (Palm).
This hugely popular brotherhood is based in the emblematic La Viña neighbourhood and is the result of the merger of the Brotherhood of the Most Holy Christ of Mercy and Our Lady of Sorrows with the former Archbrotherhood of Our Lady of the Palm. It was precisely the latter that was the protagonist of the famous miracle of the retreating waters during the 1755 tsunami that struck the city of Cádiz.
Both Our Lady of the Palm and Our Lady of Sorrows are canonically crowned images, in 1987 and 2022 respectively.
The repertoire we perform on this day is generally cheerful and classical in character, a style that harmonises perfectly with the spectacular canopy of Our Crowned Lady of Sorrows, embroidered in 1915 by Juan Manuel Rodríguez Ojeda and formerly belonging to the Brotherhood of Los Negritos (Black Brotherhood) of Seville.
