Seville
On Good Friday we return to Seville to accompany Our Lady of the Greatest Sorrow in her Solitude, the image of the Brotherhood of La Carretería (Carters).
We have now been linked to this Sevillian brotherhood for over five years, and we enjoy it enormously. For us it is a true delight to walk the historic streets of central Seville each Good Friday evening accompanying the beautiful canopy of the Brotherhood of La Carretería.
Our relationship with this brotherhood has, moreover, a historical background that makes it all the more special. The Dukes of Montpensier were appointed Perpetual Senior Brothers in 1849, and barely three years later, having established their summer residence in Sanlúcar, the Town Council municipalised our band precisely in order to be able to receive the members of the ducal family each year "as they deserved": with our music. In this way, the connection between the Sanlúcar Band and the Brotherhood of La Carretería acquires a historical and symbolic meaning that endures to this day.
The repertoire we perform consists, as befits the occasion, of funeral marches, suited to the solemnity and contemplation required by this procession.
